The CRICKET Center Welcomes a Facility Dog!

The CRICKET Center was recently approved to receive a Courthouse/Facility Dog from Canine Companions for Independence.  Their specially trained facility dogs are trustworthy in professional environments and can perform over 40 commands designed to comfort and inspire child victims. One of the most valued qualities of the facility dog is the unconditional love and attention it gives to the child victims with whom it interacts.

After an anxious wait for their new friend, Josiah, has finally arrived!  He is a 2 year old Labrador who loves people, especially kids.  Along with settling in, Josiah is learning to play games as a fun way to interact with kids at The CRICKET Center, including popping bubbles (kids will do deep breathing exercises while blowing bubbles and Josiah will pop them).  He loves learning and gets so excited when it’s time to go to work.  In his first few days, Josiah has already met lots of great people, attended a board of directors meeting, a Multidisciplinary Team meeting, and napped in the grass.  He really likes his new job!

When Josiah is not working, he loves running at the tennis court or snuggling with everyone. He likes to fetch but really enjoys having someone race him to get the ball.

The CRICKET Center is raising funds to help maintain their facility dog.  For more information, please visit their website.
