Making children and families feel safe and comfortable is at the heart of every children’s advocacy center.  No matter what building we’re housed within, the work of the children’s advocacy centers is child-focused, providing each victim with a safe, nurturing environment.   That area may be filled with comfortable sofas or chairs, painted with brightly colored walls or murals, include books, toys and TV to keep children and youth engaged.

There isn’t one “right” way to decorate a children’s advocacy center; but the more child-friendly, comfortable and safe it is, the less anxiety the child will feel and the more they are likely to relate positively to this difficult but vital process.
