Roper Victim Assistance Academy – 2022 Virtual Summer Academy

WHO SHOULD APPLY?
Individuals from victim services agencies and other organizations
that serve crime victims. This includes paid staff and volunteers
from a variety of community-based and system-based programs
and other allied professionals such as law enforcement and
corrections. Ideally, candidates will have a minimum of two years
in the field of victim assistance.

COST
If virtual, the all-inclusive $300 fee covers tuition, online training materials, shipping fees and all other related expenses. If in person, room and board. Financial assistance is available through a limited number of scholarships through the Academy, and may be covered by VOCA funds from the participant’s agency of employment. Additionally, the U.S. Office for Victims of Crime offers scholarships for professional development.

Victims Rights & Laws, Restitution, Family Violence, Workplace Violence, Collaboration & Network Building, Vicarious Trauma and Self-Help, Certification and Professional Development.
In order to be eligible for selection, a candidate must submit one (1) typed application and two (2) letters of recommendation, one of which must be from your supervisor/program coordinator. Up to 35 participants from among all those who apply will be selected to attend the upcoming Academy. To create the optimal learning environment, the Academy’s Selection Review Board will strive to construct a class of participants which reflects a balance in cultural, programmatic, professional, and geographic diversity.
