Initial Victim Service Provider Training

The SCNCAC initial Victim Service Provider (VSP) training is a blended learning course which combines in-person virtual instruction with an online learning component conducted via the SCNCAC eLearning portal. It has been approved by the National Children’s Alliance for accreditation standards. Through a cooperative agreement between Maryland Children’s Alliance and SCNCAC, this course is being offered to Maryland Children’s Alliance member CAC victim/family advocates. Participants must complete the online portion of the training before attending the in-person training.
Training topics include: identify roles of different VSPs/Advocates, identifying resources and referrals, discuss strengths, limitations, and possible overlap or conflicting roles of different VSPs, Partner and collaborate with other agencies to meet the needs of victims with special needs/ considerations, Victims’ Rights and Statues, crime victim compensation, criminal justice system and court procedures, introduction to vicarious trauma for victim services, our historical foundations, the medical exam, and more!
