MCA & NCA: Evidence-Based Assessment Training
July 31 @ 10:00 AM - 11:00 AM
MCA and NCA are working together to provide Evidence-Based Assessment Training for you and your mental health partners. We are hosting an introductory webinar on July 31st, at 10:00 – 11:00 AM with NCA’s Michelle Miller so that she can share more about this unique opportunity. This webinar is the first step in creating our cohort(s) of 10 clinicians in Maryland.
As you know, having a quality trauma-specific mental health assessment is critical to determining the presence of clinical symptoms, selecting the most appropriate treatment and developing an individualized treatment plan which improves outcomes for children and often requires fewer therapy sessions. Administering the assessments at the beginning of treatment and then at stages throughout allows clinicians to adjust treatment as needed and measure outcomes.
While standardized assessment is required as part of NCA’s Mental Health accreditation standard, training in the selection and use of evidence-based assessments (EBA) is not part of many graduate school curriculums. NCA is partnering with Baylor University and University of Texas on a SAMHSA/NCTSN grant to train up to 1,000 clinicians across the country in EBA over the next 5 years. Training will be delivered in one of three ways: live training, live web-based training, and a video training series, and all will have 10 consultation calls. The training is free for clinicians, and includes free assessments during the training period. Ten clinicians make up a cohort, with one or more cohorts within a state.
