Who should be interested: This training is for anyone who works with children and adults. The impact of childhood trauma has the potential to last a lifetime. This training will help you identify stressors, provide strategies to intervene, and tools to interrupt trauma.

The Training

Studies have shown that adverse childhood experiences and traumatic events can have a lasting, negative impact on a person’s health and well-being. This training is designed to help you develop the unique skills needed to support individuals who have experienced adverse childhood experiences and traumatic events.

Intended Audience

This training is designed for professionals who work with children and families, including educators and administrators, childcare providers, law enforcement, youth-serving organizations, health and human service providers, faith-based organizations, healthcare and victim advocates.

  • Increase awareness of Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACEs) and impact on well-being.
  • Explain the physiological effect of trauma on the brain.
  • Improve knowledge on ACEs, Trauma, and Trauma-Informed Care.
  • Describe Trauma-Informed Care and its impact on your work.
  • Generate actionable ideas for applying knowledge to your work with youth and adults.
  • Enhance the community’s ability to prevent and respond to trauma.

DAY 1:

  • 8:00 – 8:45 am: Welcome, Learning Objectives, and participant introductions
  • 8:45 – 10:00 am: In depth knowledge of trauma, 20 years of the ACE Study and understanding neural connections – Part 1
  • 10:00 – 10:15 am: BREAK
  • 10:15- 10:45 am: In depth knowledge of trauma, 20 years of the ACE Study and understanding neural connections – Part 2
  • 10:45am – 12:00 pm: Impact on brain development, Stress Response System and Neurobiology of trauma – Part 1

DAY 2:

  • 8:00 – 8:15 am: Welcome Day 2, Discussion
  • 8:15 – 8:45 am: Impact on brain development, Stress Response System and Neurobiology of trauma – Part 2
  • 8:45 – 10:15 am Impact of trauma/victimization on behaviors, Trigger reminders, Introduction to Trauma Informed Care
  • 10:15-10:30 am: BREAK
  • 10:30- 11:15 am: Trauma Informed Components and Systems, Resiliency, Reflective Listening
  • 11:15-11:45 am: Self Care
  • 11:45 am-12:00 pm: Discussion and Wrap Up

 

Cancellation Policy:

A $75.00 cancellation fee will be imposed for cancellations made up to 3 working days prior to a scheduled training – no refunds are allowed less than 3 working days prior to a scheduled training. If available, a registration transfer to another scheduled training within 6 months may be made for a $25.00 administrative fee.

Certificate of attendance is provided – Participants apply for CEUs to the accrediting organization(s) of their own choosing.
