Child Physical Abuse, a Guide to the CAC Response

The National Children’s Alliance recently convened a collaborative workgroup on expanding the CAC mission to include delivering evidence-based services to victims of physical abuse.  They worked on developing guidelines and recommendations both for CACs currently providing services to victims of physical abuse and for those who are considering expanding or enhancing their services for this population. The new guide (Child Physical Abuse, a Guide to the CAC Response) includes four main sections:

  • Developing capacity to serve child physical abuse victims;
  • Meeting the mental health needs of the victims;
  • Considerations for medical providers, and
  • The role of the victim advocate in child physical abuse cases.
